What parents say about our school

"Our family has had the pleasure of having two children attend Sacred Heart School .  One child is now in high school, the other in Grade 3 at Sacred Heart.  We feel that Sacred Heart has provided our children with a truly rich educational, social and moral foundation.  The small class sizes and dedication of the teachers has ensured that their academic studies are at a consistently high level.  The sense of community and family that the students develop has helped them to nurture life long friendships and a sense of belonging with their peer group.  The morality and respectful atmosphere at Sacred Heart also serves to teach our children to be polite, respectful and upstanding members of our community.  I would recommend Sacred Heart school to any parent or family looking for a well rounded educational experience for their children."

"I appreciate the caring nature of the teachers, principal and all of the staff at Sacred Heart. It makes me feel great knowing I am dropping my grandson off at a great place that genuinely cares about his learning."

"We love SHS and have two children attending, grades 1 and 3. The teachers are incredible and there is a real sense of community and family. Religious education is very important to our family and it is nice to know our children are being taught good values. After 60+ years, SHS is on a real upswing and it is exciting to be involved!"

My child has attended Sacred Heart School since Kindergarten and will graduate Grade 7 in June, 2011.  What a wonderful journey in academics and spirituality.  The school provides a very modern academic curriculum along with many fun activities and outings outside the academic program.  The teachers and teachers' aides are always available to speak with, even outside school hours.  The dedication and interest to each child by the teachers and their aides is very obvious.  The school has an air of community, caring and taking care of each other.  As well, the school and the children are involved with various charities in the municipality.  I am not Catholic but I am so grateful for the goodness and solid education foundation that my child has benefitted from by attending Sacred Heart School throughout the past eight years.

My children ages 7 and 9  are two months into this school year.  My hesitations and concerns with the transition were quickly put to rest with the atmosphere created by students and faculty.

Just in taking the kids around for a tour, students came up to my kids and greeted them not knowing who they were or why they were there.  Teachers were quick to introduce themselves and quickly made a point to learn something about them.  They listened to their questions and had answers for them.

They went home that day and couldn't wait to change schools.  My son, normally shy, asked me over and over just to let them go the next day.

The teachers have been in such great communication with myself about progress and concerns and the catch up of the first two months.

My son's teacher took the time to phone me on his first day of school to tell me her perception of his day and how he handled it.  That one phone call made me realize the genuine care and giving of their time the teachers have for our children.

My kids feel like somebody again, not just another faceless child in a school of 700+.  These teachers and faculty genuinely care about my kids.  The change it has brought about in my kids is shown by their attitudes and caring for each other and others.  Sacred Heart School's impact on my children is unmatched.

As you enter into Sacred Heart School, the atmosphere shows the warmth, welcoming and friendliness of the staff.  Students are treated as individuals and are known by their given name.

The experienced and caring teachers at this school deliver high quality education.  Children are encouraged to participate in extra curricular activities such as donating food to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, respecting the environment by following REAPS and visiting seniors.

Teachers, parents/grandparents volunteer many extra hours with the children's choir, theatre performances, sport and reading programs, which expand their minds to be a better reader, listener and team player.

With the central location of Sacred Heart School, the students have the ability to engage in diverse activities such as swimming, skating, city library, Art Gallery and many activities at our Civic Center.

Visit our school or playground and you will automatically notice one hundred smiling faces and one of those students will be my granddaughter Izabella.

These are some of the reasons why I am so pleased that Izabella attends Sacred Heart School.

I would like to update this letter by adding that three more of my grandchildren are at Sacred Heart. All of them are doing incredible socially and academically.

My daughter is in Kindergarten and we chose this school because of all the good things we heard from other people.  Even though we are not Catholic, we knew we had made the right decision in enrolling our daughter in a school where we knew she would be in good hands.  The teachers and staff are fantastic!  Their commitment and dedication to my daughter's education has been commendable.  The support staff has been so helpful and reassuring to me and has made my daughter transition into school smooth and a wonderful experience for her.  I leave my daughter at school everyday and I know I don’t have to worry about how she is doing.

At the beginning of the year there was Meet the Teacher Night where my husband and I had the opportunity to meet the principal.  I was really impressed with how she spoke to the parents that night.  She spoke about so many things that were relevant to what I was looking for in a school.

I have also been so impressed with all the experiences my daughter has had inside and outside the classroom.  I am so happy she has the opportunity to access so many wonderful facilities in the city centre.  I am amazed at the extra-curricular activities for a school this size.

I know that if you talk to any of the students they say that they are happy to be here.

Sacred Heart School has helped our son to motivate himself to be the best he can be - academically, athletically and in terms of helping and caring about others.  Our son has been recognized for his abilities and his talents in a warm and nurturing environment.
